'Comfort In A Sound' was recorded in London, Ontario, Canada at EMac Studios by the amazing Matt Grady. Recorded in February 2010 during a crazy snowstorm and the Winter Olympics' Gold Medal hockey game between Canada and the US. The first night was very productive and lots was accomplished, then Matt had a party at his house that was tons of fun, so the next day in the studio was mellow, still productive and had a tad of extra 'character'. It was so cool watching Canada win the gold medal in between vocal takes and tracking guitars! In general, The Clearing is a mellow, mild-mannered and fun-loving duo. Recording these songs was a great experience. The fancy posed photos in the liner notes were taken by Scott Lennon at his loft-studio just down the road from where The Clearing lived and rehearsed in west Toronto. His puppy, Reilly seemed to like us because he kept coming into the shot to hang out, so we went with it, because he's just so darned cute.

The Clearing Toronto, Ontario

Stephan is from the west coast of Canada. Eric is from the East coast. They met in the middle, in Toronto. Now they make music with their acoustic guitars and a little help from their friends.

The Clearing released their debut EP in the spring of 2010, "Comfort In A Sound".
